CV Best Practices

Our newplacement services are always based on current data and modern practices. Because application processes, technologies, and expectations have changed, we asked recruiters what matters in a resume today – supplemented by our coaching experience.

Approximately 30 minutes reading time

As part of our newplacement services, we support people in making a secure new start to their careers. This also means that our recommendations are up-to-date and practical. Recruiting has changed significantly in recent years: applicant tracking systems play a larger role, resumes are scanned more quickly, and clear, relevant information is more important than ever.

That's why we asked 62 recruiters, HR business partners, and HR managers what really matters in a resume today. We combined the results with the experience of our coaches from thousands of career guidance sessions. The result is a guide that shows how a modern resume should be structured, what content is convincing, and which avoidable mistakes weaken applications.

The guide provides guidance on structure, length, a concise profile, skills, and concrete achievements. It also shows how to ensure resumes remain readable for both people and applicant tracking systems, how to confidently explain gaps in employment history, and the role of photos, date of birth, and hobbies today. This allows us to provide even more effective support to individuals in outplacement, helping them successfully take their next career step.
